Today, U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Allan Mustard will present two newly translated and published American children’s books in the Turkmen language. Following the successful launch of Charlotte’s Web in Turkmen in 2015, the U.S. Embassy translated and published two more books, Farmer Boy and Little House in the Big Woods, by American author Laura Ingalls Wilder. The books are based on the author’s childhood memories in the early 1870s and are well-loved works of American literature that millions of American students are familiar with. Through this project, the Embassy seeks to promote the Turkmen language while sharing classic American literature with Turkmenistan’s citizens.
The book launch will take place at the Embassy’s Information Resource Center (IRC) on May 5 at 18:00 and will feature select readings in English and Turkmen and a book trailer contest announcement. Attendees will receive free copies of the books.
