On August 20-26, 2016, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) arranged a visit to Dubai, UAE for four State Commodities and Raw Materials Exchange officials to explore opportunities for stocking Turkmen goods in Dubai warehouses in order to make them more accessible to potential buyers. The officials met with warehouse operators, shipping agents, freight forwarders, commercial real estate companies, and the Jebel Ali Free Zone Administration and toured selected warehouses. They returned from the visit with the knowledge of specifics related to leasing warehouses, transportation routes to and from Dubai, and preliminary data to conduct cost-benefit analysis of stocking Turkmen goods in Dubai-based warehouses.
This visit is part of USAID’s technical assistance program that supports the Government of Turkmenistan in economic diversification and export promotion.
